Brewster
Elementary School
On the behalf of the staff of Brewster Elementary School, I want to
extend a warm welcome to each one of you.
At Brewster Elementary we currently serve about 500 students
K-6. We are committed to focusing
on reading, math and writing. Of
course, many other subject areas are integrated, such as: music, PE, art, social
studies and science.
Never before have students been held to such high academic
standards. The challenge before us
is to raise student achievement to the next level, the level set by our State
through the Essential Academic Learning Requirements. These requirements are a challenge to
all students. The ability to accept
the challenge, to work together to overcome obstacles, to be positive in the
face of a difficult task and celebrate success, will be a tremendous
journey. In this journey we look
forward to working with you.
The staff appreciates and depends upon active parent involvement in
our school and its programs. If at
any time, you would like to volunteer in a classroom, in the office, or on the
playground, either on an occasional basis or on a regular basis, please come
into the office and we can help you make that possible. We need your involvement as we strive to
build an excellent school system.
The student day will start at 8:00 and end at 2:50.
Buses will run accordingly. Every Monday school will start at
9:30 and end at 2:50. Breakfast
on this day will begin at 9:00, buses will run 1.5 hrs later. This time will allow staff to spend the
necessary time to collaborate with grade levels and teams to better prepare
educating your student(s).
Finally I would like to leave you with the acronym T.E.A.M.,
Together Everyone Achieves More, is an encouragement for you to get
involved with your child’s education. Home, School, and Community truly
form the T.E.A.M. that can make a difference in your child’s
life.
As principal, I am excited to meet and work with each of
you.

Elementary Principal
We Believe . . .
Education must be focused, defined and measurable rather than random and
accidental. Education should be the right of all regardless of race, creed,
disability, gender or gift. Education should be lifelong, process oriented and
our nation’s top priority.
Schools should set goals, establish a positive environment and develop a
team effort with communication to all team members. School goals should
guarantee basic skills to every student so 100% of our students’ graduate.
Schools should prepare students for college, trade schools and the real world.
Schools must identify and focus on exit outcomes for each curriculum. Our
positive environment should be fun, caring, disciplined, exciting and
challenging. We must provide a longer time to learn the basic principles, but
not lock all students into a longer time. We must build the self-esteem of every
student.
Parents must be positive role models and take responsibility to be involved
in the education of children and adults.
Students need to take responsibility for their own learning and become
responsible, productive citizens of society. They should be guaranteed guidance
in developing, modifying, and setting goals for their future and be encouraged
to communicate in the process. Students need to have enthusiasm for lifelong
learning.
Teachers are some of the most important persons in each child’s life. They
must do everything possible to build each child’s self-esteem and must motivate
each child through a positive educational environment. Teachers must be open to
change, taking into consideration each child’s individual needs and/or goals. By
using new techniques, methods and technologies, teachers can help in the child’s
learning. Teachers must be team players and must talk with parents, students,
administrators and other staff members.
