| GEAR UP!
Welcome to the GEAR UP webpage! GEAR UP stands for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs. GEAR UP strives to improve academic achievement, to offer teacher training and to partner with parents. The GEAR UP group of students this year are the 7th, 8th and 9th graders and this group will be in GEAR UP until they graduate from high school. This year we have been on some great field trips:
*College and career fair
*Girls' science and math camp
*Gonzaga campus tour
*Big Bend Community College campus visit
Future trips include Wenatchee Valley College, Wenatchee.
GEAR UP has been sponsoring a math and science endorsement program for teachers and is in the second year of the program.
GEAR UP is training high school juniors and seniors to be tutors. Students receive both high school and college credit for completing the training. Tutors can then apply to be paid tutors, working with GEAR UP students.
Partnering with existing programs is also a GEAR UP priority. Tutors assist in the 21st Century after school program as well as help with the ESL/Citizenship classes for parents.
